Train: ‘Geneva Airport’ to ‘Morgins Poste’

Get the train and bus from Geneva Airport to Morgins Poste, for the most beautiful journey around Lake Geneva.

The train station is in the airport, and the first train you need (signposted to BRIG) takes you, via Lausanne, to Aigle (next stop after Montreux) where you change trains. The journey is around 90 minutes and direct trains normally run every 30 minutes throughout the day.

Then at Aigle, you take the local train (across the platform) towards Champery, getting off at Collombey Village.

In the center of the small village (at bus stop M across the car park from the train stop), you get on the Morgins bus, a 20 minute journey.

Get off the bus at Morgins Poste and get a taxi or arrange a pickup with us.

Details and tickets can be found at www.sbb.ch/en

Remember to search from ‘Geneva Airport’ to ‘Morgins Poste’ on www.sbb.ch/en, otherwise you’ll not get the ‘linked’ services and may have to wait at Aigle or Collombey village !

Car Hire:

All the main car hire companies are based at Geneva airport.

Make sure you tell them you’re driving in Switzerland and France and get a vehicle fitted with snow tyres and get chains if you’re coming in the winter.

At Geneva airport, you are able to hire vehicles on both the Swiss and French sectors, it’s worth checking prices on both sides. Strangely, the French sector is closer than the Swiss in the airport, but longer to drive to when you return.

Driving down from the UK:

Chatel is 823 km (511 miles) from Calais, using the motorways takes about 8-9 hours.

Good places to stay en-route (use a website like booking.com to find which hotels are open):

Saint-Quentin (400 miles from Chatel): Historical city with large central square.

Epernay (375 miles from Chatel): Champagne central - need we say more !

Troyes (half way): the old town is amazing, just like Tudor London, get a hotel in the old town with parking to really make the most of your evening.

Langres (190 miles from Chatel): old walled town on top of a hill, smaller and quieter than Troyes, but amazing place to visit in an evening.
